America’s New Business Plan strives to inspire action from policymakers, who may recognize the importance of new and small businesses but need guidance on how to help.

Nationwide, Start Us Up members have been active to ensure local, state and federal policymakers understand the concrete steps they can take to support entrepreneurs and unleash their economic potential.

North Carolina’s New Small Business Plan
The NC Rural Center recently held a webinar to support the launch of its own iteration of America’s New Business Plan, titled North Carolina’s New Small Business Plan. The plan includes state-specific recommendations for North Carolina policymakers, divided into four sections aligned with ANBP’s pillars. Supporting the plan is an upstart coalition of North Carolina organizations and individuals. Prospective members can learn more here.

We can restore long-term job growth by supporting startups
John Arensmeyer of Small Business Majority and Victor Hwang of Right to Start co-authored an op-ed in The Hill discussing how government can level the “unfair playing field — by putting government resources to work for new business growth.” Recommendations include providing equitable access to long-term capital, allocating 5% of federal contracts to new small businesses, and removing barriers — specifically those outlined in America’s New Business Plan.

The NEXT Missouri coalition, led by BioSTL and inspired by the framework of America’s New Business Plan, shared a recent article on StartlandNews.com highlighting progress from the Missouri Technology Corporation, a public-private partnership created to promote entrepreneurship. NEXT Missouri’s policy platform advocates for scaling MTC as a proven vehicle for private investments, evidenced by its recent successes.
